At Reel Big Studios, we pride ourselves on bringing conviction, collaboration, and craft into every project we take on. When we joined forces with Frame.Work and Director Brecht Vant’hof we wanted to join them in championing Right to Repair. In this campaign, we walk through why repairability is so important to the tech industry from environmental to economic concerns this campaign touches on why repairability is a right and not an option.
How do we teach people how to repair their equipment? By showing them.
Frame.work’s laptops can be repaired by anyone and the best way to connect with people who are interested in your product is by showing them how easy it is to repair. Here are some of the features we highlighted in our campaign.
Each screw on the bottom plate is fastened to the plate which makes it nearly impossible to lose.
Each component is clearly labeled with text and a QR code to show you how to install it.
Replacing external components can be as easy as pressing a release button and unsnapping it.
When we partnered with Frame.work to develop a creative campaign for the brand we did our homework. We delved deep into understanding the importance of the Right to Repair initiative.
The creative team and production team spent days prior to the shoot with the product; assembling and disassembling it so that we would know how to work with it intimately.
The process of assembling and disassembly the product became so fluid that our production team even taught our talent how to assemble and disassemble the product the day of the shoot so that it could be done seamlessly on camera.
All of our productions and post-production are done in-house. We have a team of editors and producers that have a wide range of expertise and for this production, our producers did extensive research about the Right to Repair Initiative. So when we went into production each of our team members knew how to install RAM, a speaker, or replace a monitor on the Frame.Work computer without the need for a specialist on set.
When we work with our post team to deliver the product our digital imaging tech labels each picture and passes detailed meta data to our editors so that they know what they are editing.
Here are the major tenets we stand for at Reel Big Studios that separate us from other production companies
We do our homework. Inspiration can come from anywhere but breakthrough ideas take time; they come from a deep understanding of our partners and the world in which they operate. So we spend a lot of our time talking to our clients and partners about what they care about.
We believe that story is the most important part of filmmaking. A good story has the power to change the way we see the world and we look to elevate our storytelling at every turn—through our attention to the details, our constant pursuit of clarity, and the diverse expertise of our team.
We believe that filmmaking demands collaboration. If you’ve ever watched the credits after a film, you know it takes a lot of people to pull off great work. We believe that when everyone is able to contribute to how and what we do in production we can create something really special.
We invest in the best talent. At the core of every project is a team of best-in-class creatives. They are versatile but not just because they came to us that way, because we pride ourselves in developing our talent.
It’s true: caring is contagious. And we care just as much about our partners as we do the work itself. That is how we are able to build lasting partnerships with some of the best brands in the world.
